Four Little Words

Four little words.
So small, so innocent
Yet when spoken together,
words cannot be unsaid
Their power, once summoned,
cannot be unread
And lives are changed forever

Four little words:
“Let’s do this now”
A plan sparks into life
“Will you marry me?”
A husband takes a wife

Four little words:
“What could go wrong?”
Did you need to ask?
“I am leaving you”
Some love not meant to last

Four little words:
“We won the lotto!”
We'll nevermore be poor
“Just one more drink”
Then none, forever more

Four little words:
“I believe in you”
Inspired to perform
“Your father is gone”
And we begin to mourn

Four litle words:
“I have a dream”
A call out to the world
“We are at war"
Such horrors now unfurled

Four little words:
“It will be fine”
But will it, are you sure?
“I renounce my faith”
My God shoved out the door

Four little words:
“I love you babe”
The words that warm a heart
“There’s been an accident”
And lives are torn apart

Four little words:
“Let’s have a baby”
A daughter, or a son?
“I’ll see you soon”
That day may never come

Four little words:
“I love a man”
His closet left behind
“We need to talk”
Okay, but please, be kind

Four little words
Not small
Not innocent
Life changing

What are your four little words?
